The UPSC Civil Services Examination follows a tightly sequenced annual calendar that runs from the February notification all the way through to the final result the following April — a 14-month cycle in total. Missing a single deadline can cost you an entire year, so keep this calendar within easy reach. Bookmark it, set reminders, and cross-reference every date against the official UPSC notification as soon as it is released. Below is the complete expected schedule for CSE 2026, from the notification to the final result.

CSE 2026 Full Timeline

Dates marked (expected) are based on historical UPSC patterns and are not yet officially confirmed. UPSC publishes its Annual Calendar on upsc.gov.in/examinations/annual-calendar — always treat official dates there as definitive.

Key Deadlines to Never Miss

1

Application Window (4–27 Feb 2026)

The application is entirely online through the UPSC OTR (One Time Registration) portal at upsconline.nic.in. You must register your OTR profile before you can apply. Do not wait until the last day — server load spikes heavily near the deadline. Keep digital copies of your photograph, signature, and qualification documents ready before you begin.
2

Prelims Admit Card (15 May 2026)

Download your admit card as soon as it becomes available. Verify your name, photograph, examination centre, and roll number. If there is any discrepancy, contact UPSC immediately — last-minute corrections are rarely entertained.
3

Prelims Examination (24 May 2026)

Both GS Paper I and CSAT Paper II are held on the same day in two sessions. Carry your admit card and a valid photo ID to the centre. This is your gateway to Mains — preparation intensity should peak in the weeks leading up to this date.
4

DAF-I / Mains Application (from 20 Jul 2026)

After the Prelims result, you must fill the Detailed Application Form I (DAF-I) to be eligible for Mains. This is where you declare your optional subject, choose the language for your qualifying papers, and provide detailed personal information. Do not treat this as a formality — errors here can affect service allocation later.
5

Mains Examination (21–25 Aug 2026)

Five days of conventional written examination covering nine papers. Plan your travel and accommodation in your exam city well in advance. Carry all required documents for each session.
6

Personality Test (Jan–Mar 2027)

After the Mains result, qualified candidates receive an interview call along with the DAF-II form. Submit DAF-II on time and begin structured interview preparation, focusing on your academic background, hometown, hobbies, and current affairs.
